That was Brother Oliver’s introduction to Tears For Fear’s iconic song, “Mad World”. Gary Jules’ rendition of the song was prominently featured in the cult classic film Donnie Darko in a hauntingly perfect blend of sight and sound that’s captured the hearts of listeners & viewers for decades.
The song has magnetic qualities—and it’s been covered by countless artists over the years. For dedicated fans of Brother Oliver, the psychedelic folk band from Greenville, South Carolina, they’ve grown to expect it at shows—“Mad World” is one of the only covers the band has ever introduced into their live show. Even further, they recorded and released their own studio version of “Mad World”, performing in their own signature psychedelic folk styling we’ve grown to expect from the group.
