Andrew P. Oliver Returns to Middle-Earth with ‘Glamdring II’

Andrew P. Oliver released the LOTR-inspired album, Glamdring II

Nearly 10 years ago Andrew P. Oliver went on an unexpected journey with his Hobbit and Lord of the Rings inspired album, Glamdring. Now, he returns to Middle-Earth with Glamdring II, a new collection of fan favorite tunes inspired by Tolkien’s world and the classic 1977 The Hobbit cartoon by Rankin/Bass. Building on the nostalgic spirit of the first album, Oliver expands the scope with bold arrangements and creative twists riddled with classic musical callbacks to the iconic LOTR franchise.

The seven-track album features highlights like “Chip the Glasses, Crack the Plates”, “Rollin’ Down the Hole”, “Misty Mountains Cold”, and a surprising follow up to the classic, “Down Down to Goblin Town (Jazz Fusion Remix).” Oliver also ventures into The Return of the King cartoon lore with “Frodo of the Nine Fingers” and “Where There’s a Whip, There’s a Way”, progressing the musical series chronologically into the next chapter—and leaving the door open for a potential 3rd album that ventures completely into LOTR territory.

A decade after the initial inception, Glamdring II picks up right where Glamdring left off, offering a journey that feels both familiar and refreshingly new. For fans of Tolkien, animated classics, and imaginative reworkings, Glamdring II is a fitting next step back into the musical magic of Middle-earth.
