Whatever plans you might have in the days ahead, don’t be afraid to let them go sideways as there are more than a few shows worth the detour.

When I look at my calendar and see quality shows at at least five completely different Greenville venues, I cannot help but think the local scene just keeps getting better all the time.

The stuff we listened to once-upon-a-time can take us right back to that place in all the best ways. Thank God for broken aux ports, I suppose.

Some weeks the musicians come out in force and let us know that the local scene is not just alive and well but, rather, flourishing.

It is always a nice surprise to be taken aback by the richness and diversity of the live music options we have at hand.

I have to pay for food and drinks again and I actually need more sunscreen as Greenville’s thermostat was officially set to “Gates of Hell” while I was gone.

It is most satisfying when I sit down to listen to someone new and find myself completely blown away.

This is one of those weekends where if something does not appeal to you, then you are probably not reading this in the first place.

Whether you are packing your bags for Skunk Fest or circling the date of Cracker’s show in the loudest Sharpie you have in the house, there is a lot to celebrate on the local music scene.

Now celebrating its third year, the UMA’s have made the move from the West End event space Zen to The Peace Center.

It is an eclectic assortment of talent and all more than worthy of your musical appreciation, all for very different reasons. 

There are hundreds of nominees in 14 different categories and we listen to every single one of them.
